There are now over 1.5 million iPhone and iPod Touch users in the UK and with that in mind iBuildApps has launched a free iPhone app. This one enables UK residents to find a personalised number plate.
According to the application’s author, Bryn Firkins, “Brits love their motors. According to Apple, five of the ten most downloaded iPhone apps in the UK in 2009 were car related.”
This iPhone app aims to help drivers secure the perfect plate for their new car whilst still in the dealer’s showroom. It’s even possible to see what the numberplate would look like their prospective new car.
iBuildapps points out that iPhone owners are likely to have a higher than average disposable income, so they are more likely to be own or want a cherished plate.
Since the UK’s cherished numbers scheme was launched in 1989 over three million plates have been sold, generating around £1.3 billion in sales.
