A report by The Department of the Registration of Motor Vehicles (RMV) says some parliamentarians and government officials are using unauthorized number plates on their vehicles. These use the number sequence ‘WPC – 2008/2009’ and are white on red.
Sources at the RMV explained that these authorized red number plates are issued for either for security purposes or for the transportation of vehicles from access points such as the port or airports to the dealers address,each dealer having a number sequence ‘WPC 9 xxxx’.
The official was responding to a complaint received by Daily Mirror by a reader who said he was involved in a hit-and-run situation with a vehicle using one of these unauthorized number plates.
