A very interesting article appeared on Buzzle.com, all about car number plates in Canada and how easy it is to do a 'reverse look up' to see who the owner of a vehicle is, all very useful if you find themselves get hit by a car who then does not stop.
In Canada it seems there are quite a few options:-
Online Lookup, three sites being available -
www.licenseplatehunter.com
www.govdmvrecords.com
and
www.licensesplatesearch.com/license.
There is also the Department Motor Vehicle (DMV)
Plus if you can get the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) you can also get all the info you need from a number of sources
Finally, of course the Police seem more willing to help than they might be in the UK, and they too will find the owner of the vehicle for you.
